Appliance Wiring Services

Take a moment to think about how much of our lives depend on electrical appliances. Electrical appliances keep food cold, they wash clothes, light the house, reheat that once cold food and, most importantly, make our morning coffee.

They're everywhere, and almost all of these appliances utilize appliance wires in one way or another.

When homeowners purchase a major appliance, many don't stop to think whether or not their current electrical circuit can handle the extra load. Homeowners should consider their current electrical load and potentially wiring a new circuit so their home can safely handle the electricity needs of the new appliance.

What Appliances Need Dedicated Wiring?

When installing new appliances, your existing circuits likely won't cut it. Here are some appliances that need dedicated appliance wiring:

Washers And Dryers- Using more energy than almost anything else in the home, washers and dryers require dedicated circuits able to handle the immense electricity load they eat up. Modern washers and dryers typically require 4-wire circuits, outlets, and cords.

Microwaves- Invented in 1946, microwaves are a relatively new appliance that many older homes do not have the circuitry to handle. Microwaves are sometimes also installed over ovens using exhaust fan wiring which is incredibly dangerous. Instead these microwaves should receive their own, dedicated circuit that can safely and effectively handle the electricity load.

Window Air Conditioners- Not all window air conditioners are created equal, and many that lack energy efficient engineering will likely trip breakers and blow fuses. Before installing a new window air conditioner, make sure your home has a dedicated circuit to handle this extra power load!

I had the pleasure of working with Storm Electrical after the purchase of my new home. The house needed some electrical updates identified during the home inspection. They were able to provide a quote, schedule the work, and complete the job within a week. The guys also came on Saturday and Sunday, which was very helpful for me since I work from home and need internet. Will definitely call Storm again next time I need an electrician.
